What we are

We're old and tired and we want to play, but we don't want to make too many commitments. The sandbox is all about trying out different ideas and just generally having some fun. We don't expect people to log in constantly; we don't have lots of requirements. We would like to build a community where people feel like they can do something fun.

Our motto is: roll with it. If you're going to do something world-breaking-for-everyone, go ahead and let admin know, but otherwise... this is everyone's game, so chase the story with each other, and let's see what happens.

(Characters will come and go. But... this is a Pass, that's to be expected. It's fine.)

What we're not

This is not a traditional Pern. We're not going to run traditional search. We're low-code and high RP. Plot - if it happens - is up to everyone.

No, our grid doesn't have descriptions.

Characters

Characters - including ranking characters - are by chargen approval. We're a small community, so we're not specifically requiring applications as such, but be sensible. There's room for 3-4 goldriders at Igen, plus the other usual ranking characters. Please do feel free to work together to build concepts! Any major roles we don't fill early on will be filled with NPCs (which will be adoptable later on), but we're trying to be loose rather than proscriptive.

Private rooms

Ares allows for creation of temp RP rooms, so you're always welcome to create one for whatever purpose.

If however, you would like a weyr/room/whatever, let the admin team know and we can build one for you. Just ask.

Terms

Runners or horses? Porcines or pigs? Both versions work.

Idling

We don't have activity requirements. Having said that, if you're playing a key role and you disappear, chances are we will assume actions on the part of your character.

Stats

Ares comes with built-in stats, and we've left them in because they can add an element of randomness: you can choose to use them to decide whether your character succeeds or fails at something, to determine the winner in a contest between two PCs, or to determine the actions of an NPC, etc. Although chargen will require you to set at least the basics, there is no corresponding requirement to use them in play.

(If you think there is something missing from the stats system, please do let us know and we can add it!)
